Meet our Pastor

Pastor_Jim_Pulpit_CroppedThe Reverend James O. Kleinfelter, or as he prefers to be called, “Pastor Jim,” is currently the sole Pastor of Bethlehem. Pastor Jim answered the call to come to Bethlehem in 2003, replacing vacancy pastor Rev. Walter Schoenfuhs.

Jim Kleinfelter was born in Lititz, PA but grew up in the Washington, DC area. He graduated from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) with a degree in Chemistry and worked as a lab technician at a cancer research facility at Ft. Dietrich in Frederick, MD. At his home congregation he met and married his wife Sharon. They have 4 adult daughters.

After working 2 years in Frederick, he sensed the Lord calling him to serve as a pastor in His church. He went to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, serving his vicarage year at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Milan, IL. He served 12 years at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Arcadia, IN; 8 years at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Danville, VA; and finally here at Bethlehem in Baltimore since November of 2003. He is currently also serving as Circuit Counselor for our circuit.
